This is a fine insect in amber. It is a beautiful True Midge (Chironomidae) from the Dominican Republic. This specimen has great detail, as seen in the magnified photo. The midge is easily seen in the honey-colored amber piece. This is a very well-preserved Diptera in Dominican Amber (close-up photo is included for free).
