Very Detailed Moth in Dominican Amber

Name:   Moth (Lepidoptera)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Amber Mines
Location:  Dominican Republic
Size:  Amber piece is 0.85 inches long

This is an unusual insect in Dominican Amber. It is a large Moth (Lepidoptera) from the Dominican Republic. This specimen has great detail - the wings, legs, head, and even antennae are easily seen. The Moth is well centered in the amber piece. There is also a fly trapped in the nugget of amber. This is a very nice example of a fossil Moth in Dominican Amber (close-up photo of Moth is included for free).
