This is a very inusual insect. It is an Assassin Bug (Emesine reduviid) from the amber mines of the Dominican Republic. It gets its name from the way it eats its lunch. The Assassin Bug will catch its prey, then stick a long probe in the body of the victim, and procede to suck the life juices from the helpless prey. It then discards the lifeless shell and goes in pursuit of another unsuspecting victim. There is also a beautiful little wasp trapped in the amber. This is an incredibly detailed example of this very bizarre insect.
