Name:
Cricket in Amber
Age: Oligocene
Formation: Amber Mines
Location: Dominican Republic
Size: Amber piece is 0.8 inches long
This is a very unusual insect in amber. It is an excellent Cricket in Dominican Amber. This specimen is extremely detailed - the LOOOONG, segmented antennae are beautifully showcased. All six legs are intact and wonderfully preserved. There is also a nice Worker Ant and a Bark Louse (not pictured) trapped in the amber piece. The three insects are easily seen in the cognac-colored chunk of ''fossil ooze''. This is a exquisitely preserved example of a fossilized cricket from the Dominican Republic (small close-up photo is included for free).
