Name:
Bristletails and Other Insects
Age: Oligocene
Formation: Amber Mines
Location: Dominican Republic
Size: Amber piece is 2 inches long!
This is a very unusual assemblage of insects in amber. It is a large microcosm in Dominican Amber. This specimen has preserved two rare bristletails, 4 Gall Midges, 2 Beetles, 2 Worker Ants, a Mite, a Psocid, and a Planthopper...whew! There are so many insects in this piece we couldn't photograph them all! (one bristletail and the mite are pictured). It is very rare to have such a collection of different insects trapped in one piece of amber. This is a unique amber specimen with over a dozen unusual insects preserved (small close-up photo is included for free).
