Name:
Caddisfly (Trichoptera)
Age: Oligocene
Formation: Amber Mines
Location: Dominican Republic
Size: Amber piece is 0.3 inches long
This is an unusual insect in Dominican Amber. It is a fine Caddisfly (Trichoptera) found in the Amber Mines of the Dominican Republic. Caddisflies are rare from the Dominican Republic - they are much more common in Baltic Amber. This Caddisfly has very good detail - the legs and LONG antennae are easily seen. The Caddisfly displays well within the amber piece. This is a nice example of a Dominican Caddisfly (small close-up photo is included for free).
