This is a very rare insect nymph in amber. It is a Cicada Nymph (Auchenorrhyncha) from Russia. This specimen is very detailed and has a wonderful segmented exoskeleton. The long, barbed legs are beautifully preserved. The nymph is EASILY seen in the large amber piece. There is also a very nice Crane Fly trapped in the amber nugget. This is a very unusual fossil insect in Baltic Amber (large close-up photo is included for free).
