Formation: Amber Mines
Location: Dominican Republic
Size: Piece of amber is 0.9 inches long
This is a very nice arachnid in amber. It is a large Jumping Spider (Araneae) from the Oligocene Amber Mines of the Dominican Republic. This specimen exhibits wonderful detail. All eight legs of the spider are quite distinct. And just look at those eyes! The spider is easily seen in the honey-colored amber piece. This is an excellent Jumping Spider entombed in "fossil ooze" (small close-up photo is included for free).
