Large Leaf Trapped in Dominican Amber
Stock Number  ACPL01

Name:   Botanical (Leaf)
Age:  Oligocene
Formation:  Amber Mines
Location:  Dominican Republic
Size:  Amber piece is 0.6" long

This is a nice example of a leaf trapped in amber. It is a long, thin leaf from an unknown Oligocene plant. Plants are unusual fossils in amber because they would have had to have fallen into the sap instead of crawling or flying into it. This leaf has great detail and is very definitive. The leaf is easily seen trapped within the amber piece. And there is even an insect caught along side the leaf. This is a fine specimen of a fossil leaf preserved in Dominican Amber (small close-up photo is included for free).
