This is a beautiful fly in amber. It is a Fungus Gnat (Mycetophilidae) from the Dominican Republic. The gnat has great detail, and is preserved aesthetically with the wings wide open. The gnat is easily seen in the cognac-colored amber piece, along with many bubbles. This is a beautiful fossil Diptera trapped in Dominican Amber.
