Age: Oligocene

Size: Amber piece is 0.45 inches long
This is an unusual pair of insects in Dominican Amber. There is a Biting Midge and Elongate Springtail trapped in the honey-colored amber piece. The Biting Midge has nice detail - most of its features are easily seen. The Elongate Springtail also has good detail. This Springtail looks like it is actually caught in a spider's web! This is a very unusual pair of fossil insects keeping mixed company.
