Name:
Millipede (Diplopoda)
Age: Oligocene
Formation: Amber Mines
Location: Dominican Republic
Size: Amber piece is about 0.7 inches long
This is a very unusual amber fossil. It is a pair of complete Millipedes (Diplopoda) trapped in Dominican Amber. Both specimens have very fine detail - the segmented bodies and legs are extremely well preserved. Under magnification, the millipedes are easily seen displayed within the honey-colored amber piece. This is a very collectible example of a multiple Millipede specimen from the Amber Mines of the Dominican Republic (TWO different small close-up photos are included for free).
