EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Millipede (Diplopoda)
Age:  Oligocene
Formation:  Amber Mines
Location:  Dominican Republic
Size:  Amber piece is 0.5 inches long

This is a very recognizable insect in amber. It is a complete Millipede (Diplopoda) trapped in Dominican Amber. This specimen has very fine detail - the segmented body is extremely well preserved. Under magnification, the millipede is easily seen displayed within the honey-colored amber piece. This is a very distinct Millipede fossil from the Amber Mines of the Dominican Republic (small close-up photo is included for free).
