Size: Amber piece is 0.4 inches long
This is a very large insect in amber. It is a Male Winged Ant (Hymenoptera) from the Dominican Republic. This specimen is so large it barely fits in the amber piece! The wings, legs, and antennae are all easily seen. The ant displays beautifully within the rectangular, honey-colored amber piece. This is an excellent Winged Ant trapped in Dominican Amber (small close-up photo is included for free).
