Size:  Piece of amber is 1.6 inches long.

This is a very detailed insect in amber. It is a True Midge (Chironomidae) from Russia. This specimen exhibits excellent detail. The body of the beast is well defined. The wings, legs, eyes, and antennae are all nicely displayed. The fly is easily seen in the extremely large, honey-colored piece of amber. This is a very nice True Midge in Baltic Amber (close-up photo is included for free).
