This is a very detailed insect in amber. It is a large Winged Termite (Isoptera) from the Dominican Republic Amber Mines. This specimen has extremely fine detail, especially on the many large wings. It is rare in the fossil record to find fossilized insect wings this well-preserved. The termite also has his legs and antennae intact. The termite is so large, it is VERY EASILY seen with the naked eye. There is also a large Fungus Gnat trapped in the amber piece. This is an impressive and collectible amber fossil from the Dominican Republic.
