This is an unusual insect in amber. It is a large Winged Termite (Isoptera) from the Dominican Republic. This termite is large, filling most of the amber nugget. The wings are in the flying position and have great venation (hard to see in the photo). There is also assorted plant debris preserved in the amber. This is a great Winged Termite trapped in fossil ooze.
