This is a beautiful insect in Baltic Amber. It is a Biting Midge (Ceratopogonidae) from the Baltic Coast of Russia. This insect just might have blood in its gut (DNA). The specimen has exquisite detail. This is a very nice example of a Biting Midge entrapped in Baltic Amber. A close-up photo will be included at no charge.
