Name:
Three Wasps (Hymenoptera)
Age: Eocene
Formation: Amber Deposits
Location: Baltic Coast, Russia
Size: Amber piece is 0.7 inches long
This is a very unusual inclusion in Baltic Amber. It is a group of three Wasps (Hymenoptera) from Russia. The wasp on the left has good detail. Both antennae are aesthetically curled, making for a nice display. The other two insects are very close to each other. Their antennae and other body parts are easily seen. This is an unusual type of insect to see so close together in an amber piece. (close-up photo is included for free).
