This is a rare animal in Baltic Amber. It is a Spiny Millipede (Diplopoda, Polyxenidae) of the type Polyxenus sp. Millipedes were rarely trapped in amber, and are usually poorly preserved. This specimen has great detail. Note the very fine bristles preserved on both sides of the Millipede. It displays beautifully in the colorful amber piece. This is a very unusual organism trapped in Lithuanian Amber (close-up photo is included for free).
