Name:
Jumping Spider (Araneae)
Age: Oligocene
Formation: Amber Mines
Location: Dominican Republic
Size: Amber piece is 0.7 inches across
This is a nice example of a Jumping Spider (Araneae) trapped in Dominican Amber. This specimen has fine detail and was caught in an aesthetic pose. The web spinners are easily seen protruding from the rear of the spider. There is also an excellent Aphelinid Wasp (Hymenoptera) trapped in the amber piece. This is a very large fossil spider preserved in ''fossil ooze'' (small close-up photo is included for free).
