Very Nice Aphid with Long Appendage
Stock Number  ACIAP04

Name:   Aphid (Homoptera)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Amber Deposits
Location:  Russia
Size:  Amber piece is 1.1 inches long

This is an unusual insect in Baltic Amber. It is an Aphid (Homoptera) from Russia. Aphids are unusual in amber - they didn't seem to get caught in the amber as easily as some other insects. They are also very small, so they are hard to find in the amber pieces. This one has nice detail. It also has the long feeding appendage preserved. This is an unusual insect trapped in Baltic Amber (close-up photo is included).
