Size: Amber piece is 0.6 inches long
This is one disgusting amber fossil! It is a very large spider (Araneae) from the Baltic Coast of Russia. This specimen is about as grotesque as you can get - it looks like an alien being from a horror movie! The spider is easily seen in the amber piece, sitting next to a mass of pollen. This is definitely one fossil that could scare your sister! It is also a very collectible arachnid trapped in Baltic Amber (large close-up photo is included for free).
