This is an unusual insect in Baltic Amber. It is a Cicada (Auchenorrhyncha) from Russia. This is a very uncommon insect in the fossil record. This specimen has good wing detail and can be seen in the amber piece. This is a good example of a Cicada trapped in fossil amber (close-up photo is included).
