This is an excellent parasitic mite (Acari) in Baltic Amber. This piece is from the amber deposits of Russia. Mites feed on the life fluids of flies and other insects. This one has great detail. There is also a small wasp trapped in the amber piece. This is an unusual organism to be caught in Baltic Amber (close-up photo is included).
