Here is a highly uncommon Caddisfly (Trichoptera) entombed in Dominican Amber. Caddisflies are relatively large insects and can usually escape from being trapped in the sticky sap. These insects are quite rare from the Dominican Republic - they are much more common in Baltic Amber. This Caddisfly is well preserved and exhibits wonderful detail. The insect is easily seen with the naked eye in the cognac-colored piece of fossil ''ooze'' that also contains some interesting plant material. This is a very fine example of an unusual insect associated with a botanical inclusion in Dominican Amber.
