Dominican Amber with Very Detailed Moth
Stock Number  ACDMO01

Name:   Moth (Lepidoptera)
Age:  Oligocene
Formation:  Amber Mines
Location:  Dominican Republic
Size:  Amber piece is about 0.6 inches long

This is an unusual insect in amber. It is a Moth (Lepidoptera) from the Dominican Republic. The moth has great detail, and the long antennae are even fully intact. The wings and barbed legs are striking. The moth is preserved in the rich, cognac-colored amber piece. This is an excellent specimen of a Moth trapped in "fossil ooze" (close-up photo is included for free).
