This is a very unusual insect in amber. It is a complete Planthopper (Winged Aphid; Homoptera) from the Dominican Republic. This specimen is preserved with the gossamer wings spread open, making for a very nice display. The wing detail is amazing - the original color pattern is even preserved! And look at the barbed leg sticking out from under the bug! This is a striking fossil insect with colorful wings showcased in all their glory.
