Rare Psocid
Age: Oligocene
Formation: Amber Mines
Location: Dominican Republic
Size: Amber piece is 0.55 inches long
This is a very rare insect in amber. It is a large Psocid from the Dominican Republic. This arthropod has no wings and an unusual body shape. This specimen has fantastic detail - a textbook example. The Psocid is easily seen in the honey-colored amber nugget. There is also an unusual Pteromalid Wasp trapped in the amber (not pictured). This is an extremely collectible insect preserved in Dominican Amber (small close-up photo is included for free).
