Name:
Bethylid Wasp (Hymenoptera)
Age: Oligocene
Formation: Amber Mines
Location: Dominican Republic
Size: Amber piece is 0.5 inches long
This is an excellent wasp in amber. There is a Bethylid Wasp (Hymenoptera) trapped in this amber piece. This type of wasp is very sleek and has nice detail. The wasp is nicely centered and easily seen in the clear amber nugget. This is a nice example of this unusual wasp in Dominican Amber (small close-up photo is included for free).
