Here is a large chunk of Baltic Amber containing a well preserved spider. This specimen is from the Eocene of Russia. The piece of amber has been highly polished on all sides to reveal the fine detail of the inclusion. The body and legs of the spider are clearly defined. The large palps of the male spider are wonderfully displayed. The arachnid is easily seen in the honey-colored piece of fossil resin. This is a fine example of a male spider preserved in a large piece of Baltic Amber (close-up photo included for free).
