This is an unusual insect in amber. It is a large Stingless Bee from the Dominican Republic. For some reason, stingless bees are usually poorly preserved in amber. This specimen is actually an excellent one for this type. All the classic features are readily seen. The bee is easily seen in the colorful amber piece. This is a very fine example of a Stingless Bee trapped in amber for millions of years.
