Name:
Oak Flower (Male) and Fungus Gnat
Age: Eocene
Formation: Amber Deposits
Location: Russia
Size: Amber piece is 1.15
This is a rare piece of Baltic Amber. It contains an excellent Oak Flower and a huge Fungus Gnat. It is rare enough to find a flower in amber, but to find one right next to an insect is almost unheard of. The flower is a male, and it has great detail. Both the flower and the gnat are easily seen in the large amber piece. This is truly a unique fossil and one of the most collectible amber specimens we've had (close-up photo is included).
