This is a rare piece of Baltic Amber. It is a large amber nugget with unidentified plant remains. Plant fossils in amber are very rare in the fossil record. This fibrous mass could be lichen, or something just as unusual. The plant remains fill the entire amber piece. This is a very collectible amber fossil from Russia (close-up photo is included for free).
