This is a beautiful insect in amber. It is a Fungus Gnat (Mycetiphilidae) from the Baltic Coast of Russia. This specimen is incredibly preserved in the amber. Each tiny feature is nicely showcased. The antennae are easily seen, and the compound faceted eyes even display well! Also, the Fungus Gnat is easy to see within the amber piece. This is a fabulous insect preserved in Baltic Amber (close-up photo is included for free).
