This is a very detailed insect in Baltic Amber. It is a Long-Legged Fly (Dolichopodidae) from Russia. This specimen displays the wings and legs very well. The fly is easily seen in the amber piece. You can also see many air bubbles trapped in the amber. It is a great example of a fly entombed in fossil ooze (close-up photo is included for free).
