Biting Midge in Baltic Amber (DNA?)
Stock Number  ACFBM02

Name:   Biting Midge (Ceratopogonidae)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Amber Deposits
Location:  Russia
Size:  Amber piece is 0.65 inches

This is a nice insect in Baltic Amber. It is a Biting Midge (Ceratopogonidae) from Russia. This specimen has good detail on the wings, legs, and antennae. Since it is a Biting Midge, it could still have blood in the gut for DNA extraction (Jurassic Park). This is a nice insect trapped in amber (close-up photo is included for free).
