Nice Biting Midge (Possible DNA)
Stock Number  ACFBM01

Name:   Biting Midge (Ceratopogonidae)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Amber Deposits
Location:  Russia
Size:  Amber piece is 0.65 inches

This is a nice insect in Baltic Amber. It is a Biting Midge (Ceratopogonidae) from Russia. Because it is a Biting Midge, it may have traces of blood in its stomach. This blood could contain the DNA of extinct animals (remember Jurassic Park?). Therefore, this is a very collectible insect in amber (close-up photo is included).
