This is an excellent insect in Baltic Amber. It is a True Midge (Chironomidae) from Russia. This midge is trapped in a LARGE nugget of amber. The midge is easily seen in the center of the amber piece. The pose is great - the midge looks like it is flying away. This is a beautiful specimen of an insect in amber (close-up photo is included).
