This is a wonderful fossil fly preserved in Baltic Amber. It is a large Long-Legged Fly (Dolichopodidae) from Russia. The fly has fabulous detail - the venation of the wings and the long legs are EASILY seen. The huge compound eyes display the individual facets beautifully - simply amazing! In fact, the entire fly is incredibly well-preserved. This is a very fine example of an ancient fly trapped in ''Fossil Ooze'' (close-up photo is included for free).
