This is a very fine insect in amber. It is a massive Fungus Gnat (Mycetiphilidae) from the Baltic Coast of Russia. This specimen is very large - it is easily seen trapped within the amber piece. The detail of the gnat is excellent - the antennae and long legs are well preserved. The amber piece has been expertly polished to showcase the beautiful natural colors of the amber. This is a very nice amber fossil with an insect that can be seen with the naked eye (large close-up photo is included for free).
