Name:
Fungus Gnats (Mycetophilidae) & Spider (Araneae)
Age: Eocene
Formation: Amber Deposits
Location: Baltic Coast, Russia
Size: Piece of amber is 0.75" X 1.5"
Here is a large piece of polished amber containing many insects. There appears to be at least eight insects entombed in the fossil "ooze". Most of the insects are fungus gnats - but there is at least one spider. The golden piece of amber has been polished for optimal display. The insects are very easily seen, with the naked eye, in the beautiful chunk of fossil tree resin. The insects exhibit fine detail. This is a very interesting piece of Baltic Amber with many insects. Close-up photo will be included for free.
