This is an excellent Parasitic Mite (Acari) trapped in amber from Myanmar (Burma). Amber from this area is Cretaceous in age, meaning it is from the time of the dinosaurs! Mites and ticks suck life juices from their hosts. This distinct specimen has great detail - the long appendages are nicely showcased. How would you like this guy crawling on you - yuck! The large Mite is easily seen in the honey-colored amber nugget. This is a grotesque organism entombed in Burmese Amber (large close-up photo is included for free).
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
