Here is an excellent insect entombed in amber. This is a fine True Midge (Chironomidae) from the Eocene amber deposits of Russia. The piece of amber has been highly polished on all sides for optimal display. The insect exhibits very fine detail - the head, body, wings, legs, and even the compound eyes and long antennae are easily seen. The distinct fly is beautifully showcased in the clear, honey-colored piece of fossilized tree resin. This is a great specimen of a True Midge captured in fossil ''ooze'' (large close-up photo is included for free).

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
