Swarm of Flies (Diptera)
Age: Cretaceous
Formation: Amber Deposits
Location: Myanmar (Burma)
Size: Amber piece is about 0.8 inches across
Price: SOLD
This is a large swarm of flies trapped in amber. It is a cool grouping of Flies (Diptera) in Burmese Amber. Amber from this area is Cretaceous in age, meaning it is from the time of the dinosaurs! There are at least SEVEN flies entombed in this piece of fossil ooze (not all are pictured). The flies have very good detail preserved - the wings are very easily seen. It is unusual to have so many insects preserved in one piece of Burmese Amber, more so than Dominican Amber. This is a collectible swarm of flies captured forever in Burmese Amber (Large close-up photo is included for free).
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
