This is an excellent Long-Legged Fly (Dolichopodidae) entombed in Burmese Amber. Amber from this area is Cretaceous in age, meaning it is from the time of the dinosaurs! The distinct piece of fossilized tree resin has been highly polished on all sides to reveal the fine detail of the insect inclusion. The head, body, long legs, and wings of the beast are clearly defined. The insect is easily seen trapped within the golden piece of fossil ''ooze''. This is a very cool example of a Long-Legged Fly preserved in amber. (Large close-up photo is included at no charge!)
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
