Cool Fungus Gnat Entombed in Burmese Amber
Stock Number  ACBUR707

Name:   Fungus Gnat (Nematocera)
Age:  Cretaceous
Formation:  Amber Deposits
Location:  Myanmar (Burma)
Size:  Amber piece is 0.5 inches long
Price:  SOLD

This is a very nice insect trapped in Burmese Amber. It is a distinct Fungus Gnat (Nematocera) from Myanmar (Burma). Amber from this area is Cretaceous in age, meaning it is from the time of the dinosaurs! This piece of fossilized tree resin has been highly polished on all sides to reveal the fine detail of the insect inclusion. The head, legs, and wings of the Fungus Gnat are all wonderfully displayed (the bright spot in the photo is from a reflection, not in the amber). The Fungus Gnat is seen trapped in the honey-colored piece of fossil ''ooze''. This is a fine example of a Fungus Gnat preserved in amber. (Large close-up photo is included for free.)

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
