This is an excellent example of a fossil Spider and Beetle in amber. It is a Flat-Footed Beetle (Coleoptera) entombed in Dominican Amber. The unusual creatures have great detail preserved - the many eyes of the spider are well displayed. The insect and arachnid are easily seen with the naked eye trapped within the cognac-colored amber piece. This is an extremely detailed example of a Beetle and Spider preserved in ancient tree resin. (Large close-up photo is included for free.)
