This is an excellent fossil Millipede (Diplopoda) trapped in Burmese Amber. Burmese Amber is Cretaceous in age, so it is from the time of the Dinosaurs! Millipedes differ from Centipedes in that they have two pairs of legs on each body segment - Centipedes only have one pair. The large Millipede in this piece is fabulous and has incredible detail. The many legs are easily seen, and the outer shell casing is beautifully preserved. The Millipede is easily seen trapped within the polished amber piece. This is an outstanding fossil Millipede from the Amber Deposits of Myanmar (Burma). (Large close-up photo is included for free).
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
