Two Nice True Midges Trapped in Baltic Amber

This is a very fine pair of insects in Baltic Amber. They are True Midges (Chironomidae) from Russia. Both flies have great detail preserved. The distinct midges are easily seen trapped within the honey-colored amber piece. This is a nice pair of insects entombed in fossil ooze (large close-up photo is included for free).
